Romcom Core: Infusing a little romance into your style Jul 5 Written By Stephanie Kinsman The heat of summer has arrived, and with it comes the perfect time to energize your style with something we like to call Romcom Core. Who doesn’t love a little summer romance? Romcom core is all about main character energy. Think about your favourite main characters from beloved romcoms and the outfits that show off their zany and loveable enthusiasm. Often embracing bright colours, texture, print and eye-catching details, their style always feels effortlessly fun while still being intentional and put together, even when their love life may not be! Today I’m going to be sharing how to infuse your style with a bit of romance. Embrace Bright Nothing says main character like walking into a room, clothed in colour! I’m not talking neutrals here, I’m talking bright colours that exude joy. Bright colours immediately draw the eye to you so get ready to turn some heads, my friend! Whether you want to go monochromatic in one bright colour or start by playing with a bright print, these are easy ways to embrace romcom core. Texture and Print PlayI think we can all agree our favourite romcom heroines are always interesting and engaging, otherwise, they wouldn’t be the characters that hold our focus and engage us for two hours or more. Texture and print are often one of the ways we can immediately spot our main character. Although pairings like this in a movie setting might not always feel like they visually make sense, there’s something engaging about print and texture together. To make this more digestible in your own wardrobe I recommend choosing a colour pallet that is cohesive between the texture you choose and the print. You might consider a silk texture to really embrace the romance as I did with this look, pairing it back to a simple stripe in the same colour pallet. Whimsical DetailsThis is probably my favourite element of romcom core because it is really the area where you can have fun and showcase your inner main character! Whether you’re using pieces with feminine details, like scalloping or ruffles, dynamic necklines or classically, fun prints like polka dots, there’s so much room to play! Have fun with your accessories and don’t worry too much about how everything works together. At the end of the day, being the main character of your life is all about how you carry yourself!
