Interior Trends I’m Keeping Through 2025

With the first month of the new year coming to a close, it feels exciting to see what is on the horizon as the year unfolds when it comes to trends. Though they can be exciting and whimsical, I’ve learned over the years that not all trends are made equal. Some will be fun and vivid only to feel stale and tired after only a few weeks. This is why I focus on trends with lasting power, that stand the test of time and still feel like they add value even months or years later.

In 2024 we saw a HUGE push to go maximalist, I would argue, in almost every way. From colour, to furniture scale, decor and overall tone, the vibe was big and bold. Though I think there are perfect moments for these, I personally skew more in the direction of minimalism, so finding versions of these trends that felt timeless, intentional and simplistic was not an easy task. Today I want to focus on a few 2024 trends that never seem to go out of style.

Layered Looks

When it comes to layering in a home, I find it can go one of two ways. It can either come off as busy and turbulent with too much going on and nowhere for your eye to settle, or it can be about using monochromatic colours to your advantage while adding texture and pattern to create your vision. A simple solution to add depth to your space without it feeling crowded? Add plants! Green goes with almost everything, so add some life to your space and let the depth of the greenery do the work. I find going this route still accomplishes visual engagement without feeling too busy.

Go Vintage

It is no secret that I love vintage pieces. I think there is something so beautiful about a piece that has stood the test of time and still looks like it belongs. This past year we saw a big push for vintage pieces with unique finishes and qualities and I want to keep this good time going with my home this year. By adding in pieces that have real and unique finishes, you make your home feel more elegant and luxurious, while still being kind to your wallet!

Keep it Cozy

Especially in winter, I love to take the time to make our home feel that much more cozy. This usually looks like adding a throw blanket to the couch and extra cushions for a softer landing. I’ll also bring my furniture closer together to make the space feel that much more intimate. There’s nothing better than your home feeling like a place where you can curl up at the end of the day and rest, so keep it simple and keep it cozy!
