Stephanie’s Mini Bathroom Facelift

Nicole is forever the queen of Interiors, but this time around I thought I would take a swing at doing a little bathroom facelift in my condo. So today, I’m sharing my top tips for easy, renter-friendly bathroom updates for the person who isn’t an interior designer. Although simple, these tips will surely leave the space feeling refreshed and bring a little joy to this frequently used room in your home.

Textiles

You can’t have a bathroom without towels, a bath curtain or a bath mat, so textiles are a great place to start this little transformation. Things I considered while picking textiles for my bathroom, were the colour pallet, texture, print and contrast. Pulling what I know about dressing with prints, I focused on finding patterns that had both a little and a lot of negative space, while ensuring there were two cohesive colours from each. A variety of contrasting but complimentary prints adds visual interest to a room that can sometimes feel boring. Lastly, I made sure I loved the texture and feel of the textiles because these are fabrics we consistently touch.

Hardware

One of the biggest takeaways I had while working on this bathroom makeover was how easy it is to change the hardware to align more with your style and vision for the space. I took classic round cabinet nobs off an Ikea bathroom cabinet and swapped them out for a sleeker more modern brass handle. This simple change made a huge difference for me in the feeling of the space.

Sundries

Nicole has taught me well, showing me that sundries are an essential part of creating a stylish home. What are sundries you ask?! Thank you for asking because every time Nicole talked about these, for the longest time I had no idea what she was talking about. They’re essentially pretty containers to hold your things. Yup, it’s that simple! Getting a couple of cute containers and dishes for the bathroom has made me feel as though the space is more curated and cute.

Accessories

This is where your style can really shine! Accessories you might consider are beautiful candles, light fixtures, mirrors or art. I have had a Brunette the Label bag for the longest time that I always intended to frame and put in my home. Why did I put this in the bathroom you ask? Because who doesn’t want to get out of the shower and read “Hey Babe!” to feel affirmed in yourself as you dry off? Have fun with your space through the accessories you choose, but most importantly make it you!
