5 Things Your Bathroom May Be Missing

When it comes to the bathroom it is easy to focus only on the utility of the room as you rush through your morning routine. Other than keeping it clean, there aren’t necessarily a lot of things you can do design-wise in a bathroom especially if you rent like my husband and I do. But what you can’t control with your shower tile, you can control in the little details that help make the room feel fresh, inviting and like yours! Today I’ll be sharing some of my favourite, renter-friendly additions that help make our bathroom feel like a room we enjoy spending time in.

Toilet paper holder

It is such a small detail, but having extra toilet paper in your bathroom is always a must in my books. There is nothing worse than you (or your guest) being stranded with an empty toilet roll and no options. So how do we make sure no one is stuck in this dire situation in your home without it sitting in its plastic wrap beside your toilet? Enter the toilet paper holder. Though there are endless options on design and style I personally am a fan of a woven basket. It is simple and easy to clean, and you will always know if you’re running low, plus this is likely something you already own!

Something for the senses

It’s not a secret that bathrooms can get smelly, so having something easy for you and your guests to use to help quash any unwanted scents is something I always keep in an obvious spot. Whether it be a candle on the back of the toilet and matches beside it or a spray on the countertop, there will always be an option to freshen up the space after use. For an extra bonus, try using a product that also doubles as a linen spray and spritz some on your shower curtain to help the scent last a little longer in the room.

A Clock

This is a trick I picked up from my mom but it holds true! If you’re anything like me you may find yourself in a bit of a rush to get out the door in the morning, and having a clock on your counter makes things a little easier as you gauge your time. Plus this helps avoid having your phone in the bathroom where it is more likely to get damaged by water. Clocks for the win!

A Hamper

Though not a new concept, I am a huge fan of the bathroom hamper. Gone will be the days of your clothes being strewn out on the floor after a shower, as you try to dry off and not trip, potentially breaking your neck in the process. Again just a simple basket, I like this option the most because you can see it and it will remind you to take your clothes with you after you’re done in the bathroom and help keep the room clean!

Comfortable details

When it comes to bathroom styling I love to take the time to focus on the little details, whether it be investing in quality linens and towels, or having a jar of your favourite products nearby, there is something so luxurious about adding intentional details to make the most out of your time in the water closet. So give yourself the gift of thoughtful details to make sure you leave your bathroom refreshed and ready for the day ahead.
