Soak in Summer: August Bucket List

Of all the summer months, August tends to slip away the fastest, no matter how hard we try to catch as many fleeting moments as possible. As soon as we hit the third week, like clockwork, it’s all about returning to school and gearing up for the final quarter. But what if instead of focusing on how quickly the month goes and the ever-growing to-do list for September, we relish in these special moments and just focus on enjoying the here and now? For the rest of the season, we encourage you to write your own summer bucket list. Maybe there are things you said you were going to do this season but never really got around to doing, I assure you there is still time! Nicole and I have put together our August Bucket List in hopes that it inspires you to do the same, or maybe it will even give you some ideas on how to spend these last weeks of fun in the sun.

Get Outside

You’re bound to notice with our August Bucket list that there is a strong theme of getting outside as much as possible. The reality is that we live in Canada, so we spend much of the year in coats, hats and scarves. Get that vitamin D while you can my friends! We love the idea of seeing a movie or even a piece of theatre that is being shown outdoors. Whether it’s a drive-in, movie night at Union Summer or Shakespeare in the park, there is nothing more lovely than experiencing and supporting art from outside under the sun, or the moon.

I Scream, You Scream…

We all scream for ice cream! One of the most delicious indulgences of summer can be the cool, creaminess of ice cream. And what better way to cool down in the height of the heat than by walking to an ice cream parlour with friends to grab a scoop of your favourite flavour? We’ve all got one! We love going to an OG staple here in Toronto called The Big Chill. Covered in cow decor they are sure to quench the need for something sweet and special to celebrate these warmer months.

Patios and Picnics

Can we all collectively admit that everything tastes better outside? Perhaps it’s the company, but it could also be the fresh air. Whether you’re picnicking with homemade sandwiches or hitting patios for a couple of beverages, we can’t get enough of enjoying time outside with friends. Nicole and I recently checked out the patio at Union Summer and this special spot delivers on refreshing beverages, delicious food and engaging programming all summer long! A must add to any August bucket list.

No matter how you spend your last few weeks of summer be sure to make the most of your time and enjoy everything our special city has to offer!
