Challenges to Push You Outside Your Style Comfort Zone Jan 13 Written By Stephanie Kinsman The New Year is the perfect time to challenge yourself and push outside your comfort zone. While at AHS we believe you are enough as you are, it’s also good to step outside your box if that’s something that brings you a sense of joy and adventure. Your style is a great place to experiment if you’re craving something new, so with this in mind, Stephanie has put together her top challenges to push you outside of your style comfort zone. Create Different PairingsTrying something new is the name of the game here. And the beauty is you can do this with pieces you already own! Take a look through your closet and pull the first piece you see that you love. From there, take that piece and find at least one way to wear it without leaning on ways you’ve worn it before. Continue to do this until you’ve exhausted the options. Embrace ColourColour brings such joy, but for many can feel challenging and intimidating because it will always make you stand out. The beauty of embracing colour is that this challenge can meet you wherever your comfort zone is. If you love wearing black, try migrating to different neutrals like navy, which can be a great jumping-off point as it is still a darker option. If you’re someone who feels very comfortable with colour, try a colour block look pairing two colours together or perhaps even push the envelope and dress head to toe in one colour. Avoid Repeating Outfits for a MonthOnce you’ve worn one of your looks, retire it for the rest of the month. This will get your brain into a creative mindset, thinking about what you can create and with which pieces. I bet you will come out of that month feeling like you have more clothes than you thought. Thoughtful pairings are key here! Take the tags offThis doesn’t happen all that often to me, but new clients of mine have often shared with me a graveyard of pieces in their wardrobe that still have tags on, unworn. If you’re someone who often buys pieces and leaves them hanging in your closet, I encourage you to pick out one of these pieces and create an outfit using it. If you find the piece simply isn’t working for you and it’s too late to return it, it’s time to donate or sell it. Your wardrobe is valuable real estate and should only house pieces you absolutely love and wear. Purchase Something New for the Joy At AHS we love to use what we have but sometimes you have to get yourself something new. For this challenge, make sure it’s a piece that brings you joy! It doesn’t have to be practical but it does have to be something you love and are excited to wear. From there, your next step is to find ways to wear it with what you already have!Want more style inspiration? Check out our Style section and our Instagram to stay in the know. Stephanie Kinsman
