5 Things We’re Starting This Fall

We cannot believe summer is coming to an end, it seems like just yesterday we were ramping up for months of celebrations, lakeside moments, and vacation time. Though we’re sad to see it go, transitioning to a new season can often feel rejuvenating and exciting, like the turning of a new leaf. As the humidity dies and the nights get cooler we start to consider all of the new and exciting endeavours we are hoping to pursue in this upcoming season, so today we’re here to share, some big and some small, things we’re excited to begin this fall.

Nicole: Tracking Work Outs

I am not the first to say that building new habits, especially ones focused on exercise, isn’t easy. I have been trying to include movement more often in my day-to-day and though just showing up to the gym, doing what feels good and going home may work in the beginning, as a structured person I wanted to be a little more intentional with my time there. Though I’m sure there are a thousand apps that could do this for me, just simply having a standing note in my phone to track my progress has been so helpful in ensuring I don’t plateau and continue to challenge myself without winging my gym visits every time, and I can’t wait to use it to continue to up my game and ability this season.

Steph: Running

Over the last little while I’ve been dipping my toe back into running and am looking forward to continuing more as we enter into the fall. Running was my go-to form of cardio during university but since graduating somehow it became a distant memory. I found other workouts I liked more like Barre, Pilates or weight training, but now finding myself in more of a suburban area, I’ve felt a pull to get back to it. Summer can be a tricky time to start things with the amount of commitments and social outings, which is why I’ve only been able to dip my toe so far. As these things wind down, I’m excited for more diligence and commitment to this as the leaves change for fall.

N: Going all in with Hunter Gatherer Interiors Full-time

It is no secret if you’ve been following along that I have finally hit go on my dreams to do interior design full-time. Though it wasn’t an easy decision to make I decided it was time to invest in my dreams. This fall I’m excited to take on clients and projects like I never could before. I am very grateful to have years of operations experience behind me because like any job, you still have to do admin, but knowing that I am the owner of my own time and my success, though scary, is incredibly exciting and motivating!

S: Getting Colour Analysis Certified

Years ago, when I did my personal stylist certification, I remember the instructor briefly discussing colour analysis as an additional skill and service that we could offer, although it would require additional training. Of course, though, this was pre-covid and not everything was zoom-friendly at that time. Flash forward, and this kind of class can now be offered online! As you know I love playing with colour in my wardrobe and have been fascinated for a long time with how different colours make us look and feel. This fall feels like the right time to try something new and expand my skill set, in hopes of better supporting my clients.

Nicole & Steph: Reading More

N: It is known between us that Steph is the reader, but I have been trying to build reading into my downtime with more intention. My big goal has been to re-read a collection from childhood (a serious ten-book series) and once done move on to try and read everything in my home. Though our library isn’t massive I want to have read everything I have to know whether or not it is something I want to keep or pass forward. I can justify anything if it means I get to declutter after!

S: Since moving and settling into a new home, my old routines are in need of a little revamp. I once read every night before bed to wind down and relax before drifting off to sleep. However, now I live with a man who gets up at 4 AM for work, so I’ve had to make some adjustments to my beloved bedtime routine. As I move forward, I want to be more thoughtful about my reading and when I can work it back into my routine.
